This holiday season, amidst the serene beauty of Westcliffe, Colorado, Bill, Butch (Bill’s dad), Greg, and I embarked on a memorable Christmas adventure filled with laughter, warmth, and exploration.
Nestled in the heart of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, our cozy holiday retreat in Westcliffe provided the perfect backdrop for festive celebrations. From holiday movies and homemade chili to spirited card games, we cherished the simple joys of togetherness during this special time of year.

On Christmas Day, we decided to venture out to Great Sand Dunes National Park, eager to experience the park’s unique charm in the wintertime. As we arrived, we were greeted by the towering sand dunes, their golden hues contrasting against the snow-capped peaks of the surrounding mountains. Despite the chill in the air, the dunes beckoned us to explore, their pristine sands offering a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.
As Bill gracefully practiced yoga amidst the rolling dunes, we couldn’t help but feel a sense of serenity and awe at the beauty of our surroundings. With only a few patches of snow dotting the landscape, we reveled in the peaceful solitude of the park, grateful for the opportunity to connect with nature on this special day.
The following day, we embarked on another adventure to Bishop Castle, a true marvel of craftsmanship and dedication. As we wandered through the intricately designed corridors and admired the breathtaking stained glass windows, we were captivated by the passion and vision of one man’s remarkable project.

Our time in Westcliffe was a testament to the joy of exploration and the beauty of spending the holiday season surrounded by loved ones and natural wonders. From the sandy dunes to the towering castle, each moment was filled with warmth, laughter, and the spirit of Christmas.
