Western Wanderlust Chronicles
We’re Bill and Crystal — sometimes jokingly known as “Billy Crystal” — two Colorado-based wanderers, adventure seekers, nature lovers, and story collectors.
From red rock canyons to high desert trails, dusty backroads, mountain passes, and quiet campsites under wide western skies, we explore the wild places of the West and share real experiences to help you plan your own.
Western Wanderlust Chronicles is our place to share the adventures that keep calling us outside: hiking trails, desert canyons, overlanding routes, backpacking trips, national parks, snow-covered landscapes, and the small camp moments that often become our favorite memories.
What began as a way to document our travels has grown into a living journal of the wild places that have shaped us — from familiar Colorado trails to remote corners of Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, and beyond.
Our Story
Our adventures together began in 2018, and since then, the outdoors has become one of the threads woven through our relationship. We have explored red rock canyons, alpine lakes, rugged Jeep roads, quiet forests, and desert campsites where the stars feel close enough to touch.
Some trips are carefully planned. Others unfold with a little dust, a few wrong turns, and a much better story than expected. Along the way, we have learned that adventure is not always about going the farthest or climbing the highest. Sometimes it is about slowing down enough to notice the light on sandstone, the sound of water in a canyon, or the peace that settles in after camp is set.

What You’ll Find Here
On the blog, you’ll find stories from our travels across the West — part trip journal, part photo essay, part practical guide. We love sharing the beauty of the places we visit, but also the real details that help make an adventure possible: trail notes, road conditions, campsite reflections, packing lessons, route planning, and the little things we wish we had known before heading out.

Behind The Camera
Most of the time, Crystal is behind the camera, trying to capture the wide open spaces, epic landscapes, and the quiet moments that make a trip memorable.
From sunrise hikes to starry desert nights, she’s always chasing the light.

Why We Wander
For us, wandering is about more than checking places off a list. It is about curiosity, connection, and the feeling of being reminded how big and beautiful the world is.
The West has a way of pulling us deeper — down sandy roads, through narrow canyons, across high passes, and into landscapes that feel both ancient and alive. Each trip leaves us with something: a story, a lesson, a little more confidence, or a reminder to keep exploring.
Thanks for wandering with us. We hope these stories inspire you to follow your own dusty roads, quiet trails, and wild western horizons.
