Embarking on a winter adventure at Devils Thumb Ranch, Bill and I rediscovered the joy of cross-country skiing amidst the breathtaking beauty of Colorado’s snowy landscapes.
After a hiatus of a couple of years from Nordic skiing, I felt a rush of excitement as I strapped on my skis, eager to glide through the pristine trails once again. The crisp mountain air filled my lungs as I set off, relishing the opportunity to reconnect with this invigorating outdoor activity.
For Bill, it was a first-time experience, and I was thrilled to share this beloved pastime with him. As we ventured out onto the trails, the sun cast a golden glow over the snow-covered terrain, creating a picturesque setting for our adventure.

Navigating the gentle slopes and winding paths of Devils Thumb Ranch, we reveled in the tranquility of the winter landscape. The rhythmic swish of our skis against the snow echoed through the quiet forest, offering a sense of serenity and peace.
Despite the physical exertion required, the experience was as rewarding as ever. Gliding effortlessly across the snow, we felt a profound connection to nature and the beauty of our surroundings.
As we explored the network of trails, we encountered sweeping vistas of snow-capped peaks and frosted evergreen trees, each scene more enchanting than the last. It was a reminder of the unparalleled beauty that Colorado has to offer, even in the depths of winter.
By the end of our day at Devils Thumb Ranch, we were invigorated and refreshed, grateful for the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the natural splendor of the Rocky Mountains. As we bid farewell to the trails and returned to the warmth of the lodge, we carried with us memories of a day well spent and the promise of future adventures in Colorado’s winter wonderland.
