Venturing deeper into the heart of Moab’s desert landscape, day two of our Spring off-road adventure led us to the renowned Poison Spider trail. With its reputation for thrilling obstacles and stunning vistas, we were eager to embrace the challenges that awaited us on this iconic route.
For Bill, the allure of Poison Spider lay in its formidable off-road obstacles, promising an adrenaline-fueled experience unlike any other. From the outset, he tackled the trail with determination, starting with the daunting “Waterfall” – a steep rock step that put his skills to the test. As he maneuvered through the rugged terrain, each obstacle presented its own unique challenge, from navigating narrow slots to conquering rocky climbs.

While Bill reveled in the excitement of off-road adventures, I found myself captivated by the breathtaking beauty of the desert landscape. As we ascended, the grand vistas unfolded before us, revealing the majestic La Sal Mountains in the distance and the sprawling expanse of the Behind the Rocks Wilderness Area. Every turn of the trail offered a new perspective, a reminder of the awe-inspiring wonders of Utah’s desert wilderness.
Amidst the rugged terrain, we discovered a hidden gem – the overlook at Little Arch. Perched atop a cliff, this natural arch provided a stunning vantage point overlooking the meandering Colorado River below. It was a moment of serenity amidst the exhilaration of our off-road journey, a chance to pause and appreciate the beauty that surrounded us.
As we traversed the Poison Spider trail, we were reminded of the spirit of adventure that drives us to explore the unknown. With each obstacle overcome and every vista discovered, we forged unforgettable memories and embraced the untamed beauty of Moab’s desert landscape.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the rugged terrain, we reflected on the day’s journey with a sense of satisfaction and gratitude. Our adventure on the Poison Spider trail had tested our limits, but it had also filled us with a renewed sense of wonder and appreciation for the wild, untamed beauty of Utah’s desert wilderness.
