4 Pass Loop Day 3: Trekking to Buckskin Pass
On our third day of the Four Pass Loop, we woke up to the breathtaking beauty of Snowmass Lake, surrounded by towering peaks and pristine wilderness. With Buckskin Pass beckoning us onward, we eagerly set out on our journey through the majestic landscape.
Campsite Delights:
Waking up to the stunning vistas of Snowmass Lake and the majestic mountains that framed it was a truly memorable experience. With Massive Snowmass Mountain casting its shadow over the lake, and the rugged peaks of Hagerman and Snowmass looming in the distance, we felt privileged to have found such a breathtaking campsite

Ascending Toward Buckskin Pass:
Leaving the tranquility of Snowmass Lake behind, we followed the trail through dense forests and marshy meadows, soaking in the expansive views of the surrounding peaks. As we ascended toward Buckskin Pass, the landscape unfolded before us in all its grandeur, with Pyramid Peak and the Maroon Bells dominating the skyline.
Panoramic Views from Buckskin Pass:
Reaching the summit of Buckskin Pass was a moment of pure awe, as we were greeted by a breathtaking panorama of rugged peaks and sweeping valleys. The iconic Maroon Bells stood proudly against the azure sky, while Snowmass Mountain and Capitol Peak loomed majestically in the distance.
Descent and Encounters:
Descending Buckskin Pass on steep switchbacks, we were treated to magnificent views of North Maroon Peak and the surrounding peaks. As we made our way through Minnehaha Gulch, we were greeted by the tranquil beauty of Crater Lake and the warm welcome of a curious deer, a reminder of the harmony between humans and nature in this pristine wilderness.

Day 3 of our Four Pass Loop expedition was a testament to the awe-inspiring beauty of the Colorado Rockies. From the breathtaking vistas of Buckskin Pass to the tranquil shores of Crater Lake, each moment was filled with wonder and exploration. As we retired to our campsite, we carried with us memories that would last a lifetime, eager to continue our journey on the trails that lie ahead.
