With Bill away, I yearned for the tranquility of the outdoors. Teaming up with my friend Trena, we embarked on a scenic drive to northern Colorado, near Red Feather Lakes, for a refreshing hike in the Cache La Poudre Wilderness. Our journey promised stunning vistas, serene meadowlands, and the soothing sounds of cascading falls.

Traversing Meadowlands and Aspen Groves:
As we set out on our hike, the beauty of the wilderness enveloped us. We traversed through picturesque meadowlands adorned with vibrant wildflowers, their colors dancing in the gentle breeze. Towering aspen groves whispered secrets of ancient forests, their golden leaves painting a mesmerizing tapestry against the azure sky. Each step filled our souls with a sense of wonder and gratitude for the natural world around us.

Ascending to the Granite Ridge:
Our path led us upward, towards the rugged granite ridge that awaited us with open arms. With determination and awe, we climbed higher, feeling the earth beneath our feet and the crisp mountain air invigorating our spirits. The panoramic views unfolded before us, showcasing the untamed beauty of the wilderness in all its glory.

Discovering the Cascading Falls:
At last, we reached our destination: the cascading falls nestled within the heart of the wilderness. The sight of the crystal-clear waters tumbling over ancient rocks filled us with a sense of peace and serenity. We found the perfect spot to rest and enjoy our lunch, dipping our feet into the cool creek waters as we basked in the beauty of nature surrounding us.

Our hike through the Cache La Poudre Wilderness was a breathtaking adventure filled with moments of awe and wonder. As we bid farewell to the cascading falls and the tranquil meadowlands, our hearts were full of gratitude for the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the splendor of the natural world.
