On the final leg of our adventure, we ventured into the captivating landscapes of Snow Canyon State Park, nestled within the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve. With its vibrant hues and geological wonders, this park promised to be a fitting conclusion to our journey through Utah’s natural treasures.

Hiking the Petrified Dunes
Our first stop led us on a mesmerizing hike through the petrified dunes, where once-flowing mountains of sand now stood as majestic mounds of Navajo Sandstone. As we traversed the trail, we were treated to panoramic views adorned with swirling stripes of orange, coral, and white—a testament to the passage of time and the enduring beauty of nature. Along the way, we stumbled upon Moqui Marbles embedded in the sandstone, adding an intriguing element to our hike.

Exploring the Lava Tubes
Eager to delve deeper into Snow Canyon’s geological wonders, we set out to explore the labyrinthine lava tubes that lay hidden beneath the rugged terrain. As we navigated the rocky trail, the cinder cone of the extinct Santa Clara Volcano loomed in the distance, serving as a reminder of the area’s volcanic past. Carefully threading our way through the jutting lava rocks, we ventured into the underground world of the lava tubes, equipped with headlamps and flashlights to illuminate our path. Within the cool confines of the tubes, we marveled at the intricate formations carved by ancient lava flows, a testament to the raw power of nature.
