Our first camping trip of the summer took us to the picturesque landscapes of Glendo State Park, where every corner revealed a new marvel waiting to be explored.
The day began with a gentle mist, adding a touch of mystique to our morning hike. Amidst the cooler weather, we marveled at the sight of desert cactus flowers blooming in abundance, painting the landscape with vibrant hues.

Our canine companions, equally enthusiastic about the day’s adventures, bounded ahead, their tails wagging in anticipation. The damp forest air filled our lungs with the earthy scent of pine.
As the sun emerged from behind the clouds, we set out to explore another trail, leading us through a diverse terrain of cliffs, forests, meadows, and sandy beaches. Each step brought us closer to nature, immersing us in its beauty and tranquility.
Arriving at the overlook for the North Platte River, we marveled at the tranquil waters below, framed by the surrounding wilderness. Setting off on the sandy path of the Cove of the Dune trail, we found ourselves in a completely different environment, the sound of waves replacing the rustle of leaves.
The dogs, delighted by the newfound playground, wasted no time splashing in the cool waters, their joy contagious as they chased each other along the shoreline.
With spirits buoyed by our explorations, we ventured further, driving along dirt roads flanked by towering Cottonwood trees. The solitude was palpable, the only company being the occasional curious cow grazing in the distance.
As the day drew to a close, we found solace by the crackling fire, indulging in the timeless tradition of making s’mores. With sleepy dogs by our side and the stars twinkling overhead, we reflected on the beauty of the day, grateful for the memories made and the adventures that awaited us in the days ahead.
