Last weekend, we embarked on a scenic journey along The Silver Thread Scenic and Historic Byway, eager to witness the beauty of nature’s cascading wonders. Our quest led us to discover two magnificent waterfalls, each offering a glimpse into the awe-inspiring power and majesty of flowing water.
North Clear Creek Falls:

Our first stop was North Clear Creek Falls, a breathtaking cascade fed by the pristine waters of the San Juan Mountain Range. Standing before the majestic 100-foot waterfall, we were mesmerized by its sheer beauty and the thunderous roar of rushing water. As we lingered, we couldn’t help but marvel at the surrounding volcanic terrain, with its rugged beauty and panoramic views of the winding river below.
Exploring Lakes and Trails:
Venturing further along the trail, we discovered hidden lakes nestled amidst the picturesque landscape. Here, our furry companions delighted in cooling their paws in the tranquil waters before our journey continued. Following the Rex Falls trail, we embarked on a scenic hike through the mountainside, crossing shallow streams and winding pathways. With each step, the allure of the cascading white water grew stronger, beckoning us further into the heart of nature’s embrace.
Rex Falls:
Arriving at Rex Falls, we were greeted by a mesmerizing display of nature’s power as the white water cascaded down the mountainside in a symphony of sound and motion. The further we hiked, the more stunning the landscape became, each turn revealing new vistas and hidden wonders.
As we bid farewell to the Silver Thread Scenic Byway and its enchanting waterfalls, we carried with us the memories of a day filled with adventure, exploration, and the timeless beauty of nature’s wonders. Until our next journey, may the spirit of the falls continue to inspire and guide us along our path.
