As Bill and I bid farewell to the majestic landscapes of Canyonlands, our journey led us northeast of Moab along Route 128 to the enchanting realm of Fisher Towers. Nestled amidst the rugged terrain, where the promise of adventure beckoned us to explore this iconic trail.
Upon arriving at Onion Creek and settling our trailer amidst the tranquil surroundings, we eagerly embarked on the 4.5 mile (RT) Fisher Towers Trail, a winding path that meandered through the heart of burgundy-colored finlike structures. Towering above us, the Fisher Towers stood as silent sentinels, crafted by the hand of time from Moenkopi Sandstone and Organ Rock Shale.

As we traversed the trail, each twist and turn revealed new marvels, from the famous “Corkscrew Summit” where intrepid climbers scaled the towering spires to the majestic presence of The Titan, the tallest tower that dwarfed us in comparison. With each step, we marveled at the intricate formations and the sense of timelessness that permeated the landscape.
At the trail’s end, a breathtaking vista unfolded before us, offering a panoramic spectacle of Fisher Towers against the backdrop of Onion Creek and the distant Colorado River. Our timing couldn’t have been better – the midweek afternoon meant we had the overlook all to ourselves, allowing us to soak in the solitude and serenity of the desert landscape. With the fading light of day casting a warm embrace upon the land, we found ourselves immersed in a moment of pure serenity, grateful for the opportunity to witness such natural beauty.
But the real magic happened as the sun began its descent, casting a warm red glow over the Fisher Towers and illuminating the landscape in a breathtaking display of color. We lingered on the trail, reluctant to leave the tranquil embrace of Fisher Towers. I was grateful for the chance to witness nature’s masterpiece unfolding before my eyes. With hearts full of wonder and memories etched in our minds, we bid farewell to this enchanting oasis, knowing that its timeless allure would forever hold a special place in our hearts.
