Last weekend, Bill and I embarked on an exhilarating Jeep trip through the rugged terrain of Red Cone Pass and Radical Hill. With towering peaks and challenging trails, it promised to be an adventure to remember.

Ascending Red Cone Pass:
As we navigated the steep, rocky climbs of Red Cone Pass, the towering peaks surrounded us, creating a dramatic backdrop for our journey. The trail hugged the edge of the talus slope, offering breathtaking views of the mountainous landscape below. The descent from the summit was both thrilling and exhilarating, as we made our way down the steep slopes of Red Cone.

Encounter with Mountain Goats:
During our next ascent, we were delighted to encounter a group of mountain goats hiking up the road and grazing at the top. Their majestic presence added an extra element of excitement to our adventure, reminding us of the untamed beauty of the wilderness.

Conquering Radical Hill:
Our next challenge awaited us at Radical Hill, a high mountain pass reaching an elevation of 12,618 ft. The road to the summit was a narrow shelf track, offering little room for error. As we navigated the steep and narrow path, we were treated to stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Exploring Colorado’s Mining Heritage:
Throughout our journey, we encountered numerous remnants of Colorado’s rich mining heritage, serving as reminders of the region’s storied past. From abandoned mine shafts to rusting machinery, each artifact told a tale of the rugged individuals who once called these mountains home.

Meeting Fellow Adventurers:
One of the highlights of our trip was the opportunity to meet and connect with fellow adventurers along the trail. Sharing stories and experiences with like-minded individuals added an extra layer of camaraderie to our journey, making it truly memorable.

Our Jeep trip through Red Cone Pass and Radical Hill was an unforgettable adventure filled with breathtaking scenery, thrilling challenges, and memorable encounters. As we made our way back home, we were filled with a sense of gratitude for the opportunity to explore the untamed wilderness of Colorado’s mountains and the camaraderie of fellow adventurers along the way.
